Victor Hugo winning world championship open weight

Victor Hugo Absolute World Champion

On Sunday June 4th, Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu claimed the biggest title in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Victor Hugo winning the 2023 Absolute (open-weight) World Championship along with the his weight class division as well claiming his 3rd and 4th world championships in the gi. He is the first Six Blades athlete to do so since Xande Ribeiro did it last in 2008. It is an amazing accomplishment and he did it in style winning both his finals matches by submission.

This is also the first finish in the open weight finals in 14 years and only the 4th time in the history of the world championships.

He is also the first athlete ever to win both both the world championship weight and open class as well as the weight class and open class at Brazilian Nationals in the same year and he did it all by submission in those 4 finals matches.

Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu is a tight knit association and I am excited to be teaching a seminar at Victor’s academy this weekend at Six Blades Lake Travis outside of Austin, Texas to celebrate their one year anniversary of being open. I can’t wait to be training once again with this amazing athlete.

Here is video of his preparation for World’s 2023 at his academy and Six Blades headquarters in Austin, Texas.
