We have so much to be thankful for this year now being fully open and training BJJ after the pandemic. We talk about being grateful and having gratitude so much with our youth and adult members, it is really nice to give back our time to the community around us. One of our blue belts, runs BeTheGift.com “a local nonprofit in Colorado that believes some of the greatest heroes of our time are single moms who give their lives to raise their children and provide for them.” Be the Gift provides them a safer, healthier and more functioning home in which to raise their children. Think about it as handyman service for single moms.
So with a dozen members, we provided some boots on the ground for a flooring project in Lafayette, Colorado. We helped out Kristen and Maddi this weekend by removing old carpet and installing new flooring. It never ceases to amaze me the impact a group of people working together can have on the lives of some neighbors in just a few short hours! This project hit home for me because they lost their house in Longmont during the 2013 flood and I lost my basement apartment in the flood as well.
