Lovato Seminar & Self Defense

Rafael Lovato Jr. Seminar in Broomfield – May 18th

May is shaping up to be an exciting month at our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in Broomfield, Colorado. With special seminars, competition news, and a small schedule update, there’s a lot happening both on and off the mats.

We’ll wrap up the month with a can’t-miss seminar from Rafael Lovato Jr. on Monday, May 18th at 7:00 PM. The cost is $60 at the door. It’s been a couple of years since Lovato Jr. last visited our academy, and he’s returning in top form. He’s coming off a big win over ADCC champion Giancarlo Bodoni—a match I had the opportunity to coach in Japan—and recently completed his first season of college wrestling at 42 years old. He’s also currently on an impressive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu win streak of over 20 matches, making this a great opportunity to learn from one of the best in the sport.

Free Self-Defense Seminar with Rafael Lovato Sr.

The Thursday before May 14th at 6:00 PM, we’ll be hosting a free self-defense seminar with Rafael Lovato Sr.. Lovato Sr. taught an outstanding self-defense class for us last year, and we’re excited to have him back in Broomfield. With decades of experience, including training law enforcement, he brings practical, real-world techniques along with an engaging teaching style. This seminar is free for members and is perfect for anyone looking to improve their confidence and self-defense skills.

Rafael Lovato Jr vs Vagner Rocha

Leading up to the seminars, Lovato Jr. will also be competing in Florida against four-time ADCC medalist Vagner Rocha. Rocha is coming off a strong performance at UFC BJJ, where he showcased sharp half guard work and excellent back escapes, and he’s known for being extremely difficult to submit. I’ll be in Florida cornering Lovato Jr. and helping him prepare in the days leading up to the match.

BJJ Schedule Update: Thursday Open Mat in Broomfield, Colorado

We’ll also be making a small schedule update at the academy. Due to the growing popularity of our open mats, we’re turning the Thursday 7:00 PM No-Gi beginner class into an open mat following the 6:00 PM class. Our Friday and Saturday open mats have been packed, and we’re looking forward to bringing that same energy to Thursday nights.

If you’re looking for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Broomfield, Colorado—whether you’re a beginner or an experienced practitioner—this is a great time to get involved, train with a strong community, and learn from world-class instructors.
