Felipe Wins Worlds, Lovato Jr wins Pans

It has been a great end to the year for Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu. Two of my good friends and training partners Rafael Lovato Jr and Felipe Costa ended up taking home the gold at three of the biggest No-Gi competitions of the year.

Rafael Lovato Jr took home the gold at European No Gi in the adult division and then came back a week later and took home the gold at No-Gi Pans. I believe he won 7 out 8 matches by submission. He gave me a shout out after finishing one of his matches by heel hook. This is a great end of the year for the 41 year old after taking 2nd at ADCC this summer showing off the timeless jiu-jitsu he is known for. Now he will take a few months off competition to rest up for next year. We were able to once again together last month.

Then Felipe Costa took home gold last weekend at No-Gi Worlds taking home his first black belt world championship. It is great to see all his hard work paying off this year with his 3rd place finish at ADCC and then getting the gold here. His finish in the finals was classic Six Blades style of passing the half guard to mount and finishing with a choke.

Here are a few of Lovato Jr’s matches and Felipe Costa’s finish from No-Gi worlds.
