UFC Fight Pass: Victor Hugo vs Nicky Rod
We have some exciting things happening this month. I will be heading down to Six Blades HQ in Austin to help multiple time world champion Victor Hugo get ready for a rematch against CJI champion Nicky Rod on UFC Fight Pass March 6th.
This will be a rematch of last year where Victor took home a victory against Nicky Rod. In addition, fresh off his win at the No Gi World Championships, Felipe Costa be getting ready for the same card facing Ronaldo. Also Xande leading the team by competing at the IBJJF Austin Open in a couple weekends. It is always a pleasure to help the newest generation of athletes and train my instructor Xande. While I will miss a couple days of teaching, I have a lot of gratitude to the black belts who help run things while I am out helping our Six Blades team.
Our Newest Black Belt: Amy Walker
Congrats to our newest black belt Amy Walker. Amy is as tough as they come, with great Jiu-Jitsu, tremendous top pressure and an encylopedia of moves to pull from. She overcame a tough injury and with the help of great training partners not only regained her form but exceeeded it. Amy will be helping run a women’s only no-gi class starting this Friday at 12:30 pm. This now gives our academy 4 female black belts currently training with us!
Special Women's Open Mat: Feb 15th
On Saturday, Feb 15th at 2 PM. Cait and Tricia will be running an a special women’s open mat. Answering questions and giving guidance about some of the women’s only offerings available in Colorado. Professors Tessa and Amy will run a Q&A and then lead training after.
Easton Spring Open 2025
The next tournament on our academy’s schedule will be the Easton Open. This event will take place on April 5, 2025 in Littleton, Colorado at the South Suburban complex.
Early Registration is $55 until 2/21/25
Normal Registration is $65 until 3/28/25
Late Registration is $85 until 4/3/25

This was a great tournament last fall with excellent sportsmanship showed by all academies in attendance.
We also have some students competing at the upcoming IBJJF tournaments in New Mexico and Austin, Texas. This April tournament will be a nice warm up for the Denver Open in May.
